Our Vision

Our vision is to reveal and demonstrate how the sound palette that composers were working with, changed over time - enabling audiences all across the world to experience the journey that music has taken to get to the modern sonority. Through our simple combination of instruments, we believe that we can demonstrate a huge range of possibilities and present this type of chamber music in a different light - all within a short performance.

Future project plans include commissioning new works for both the modern flute and guitar combination and also the historical flutes and lute/theorbo instrumentation. With the ever-quickening expansion of compositional possibilities, we are passionate about collaborating with composers to experiment with widening the variety of extended techniques and soundscapes. We also intend to explore with performances featuring cross-art-form collaborations to combine many avenues of expression together.

We aspire to provide a completely different sound-world through merging historically-informed performance with modern conventional performance. It is our goal to bring this globally through highly established concert series and major concert venues as well as through schools, care homes and reaching the general public to contribute to the innovation of classical music and to try to help general wellbeing which we feel is now more important than ever due to the effect the pandemic has had on people.

“We programmed a Flutes and Frets concert as part of an outdoor events series in parks across Gosport Borough in Summer 22 and although there was some trepidation about the sound requirements in such a large open space, Beth and Daniel welcomed the challenge! Both musicians have been a delight to work with from beginning to end and we’d love to welcome them back if the opportunity presents itself. The evening of music was perfectly paced and included a broad range of repertoire. Audiences responded very well to the concert with many staying around to compliment the evening afterwards, my favourite part of the evening was seeing young children transfixed on the array of instruments played and the dog walkers who couldn’t help but stop to watch. Thank you both!”
